Some news about Cage

Sembra che in questi tempi il rapper della Def Jux sia davvero impegnato, e la conferma arriva direttamente da una sua recente intervista per la sua label. Se da un tratto mi rattrista sapere che non vedremo il disco prima della fine dell'estate, dall'altro cominciano a trapelare le prime informazioni su Depart From Me. Cage nell'intervista ci spiega che, se Hell's Winter è quasi un concept album sulla sua crescita e su come identificare satana, Depart From Me sarà incentrato su come sconfiggere il diavolo (e divertirsi a farlo). Inoltre cominciano a trapelare alcuni titoli, come Dr. Strong, pezzo (a detta di Cage) sull'essere legati ad un letto, Fat Kids Need Anthems Too, traccia sul fare sesso con una t-shirt (geniale il titolo) e Oh NO! It's The 80's Again, canzone a sua detta molto riflessiva. Il rapper inoltre ha detto di avere pronte già 10 canzoni, ma ne vuole di più. Niente di nuovo sui produttori. Annuncia inoltre la collaborazione ad una canzone per l'album con il songwriter e cantante del gruppo Emocore Give Up The Ghost: Wesley Eisod.

Album grandioso.Pete,scoperto da Pre ad un live di Bangkok,si distingue molto per le sue liriche calme e spensierate (che a volte non sono molto significative a dir la verità,ma suonano alla grande).Beat sopraffini,uno shake di tromboni jazz anni 40-50 con loop ciccioni.Vagamente ricorda i beat di PEOPLES INSTINCTIVE[...] degli A TRIBE CALLED QUEST.Una perla uscita per la DEF JUX.

Discone datato 2006 x Luda...Intanto lui non si discute manco per un cazzo per le abilità liriche e tecniche,i testi sono sempre stati ottimi sin dal debutto agli inizi del 2000...
Qua si spazia dalla roba un pelo più tamarra se vogliamo chiamarla così,come Girls Gone Wild,a canzoni decisamente più smooth e rilassanti come la stupenda End Of The Night (Artik già sà ) e Woozy...Basi curate dai Runners,da DJ Toomp e dai Neptunes tra gli altri...

Una menzione particolare la dedico a Runaway Love,veramente fantastica....Una base da sogno di Polow Da Don e Mary J Blige ke accompagna Luda stupendamente...
Insomma,dategli un ascolto se non lo avete fatto come me,merita davvero...e poi it's Ludaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

Ogni tanto rispolvero il rap d'Oltralpe e questa volta mi son sentito il disco di Soprano...Lui è membro dei Psy4 De La Rime,autori di Block Party che è un capolavoro del rap francese...Molto valdo come mc,liricamente tra i migliori e tra i miei preferiti,e lo dimostra con questo lavoro...Canzoni come Besoin D'Etre Libre,Puisqu'il Faut Vivre,La Familie e Dans Ma Tete parlando da sole per chi mastica un minimo di francese..Le sonorità sono varie,ricorre un gran uso del pianoforte (e difatti st'album mi piace anche per questo) e non disdegnano le basi più massiccie e potenti dove Soprano cambiando un pò il suo flow riesce ad adattarsi alla perfezione (MARS su tutte ma anche Les Clés De La Réussite)...Tra i feat,oltre ai Psy4,spiccano Blacko,il cestista Tony Parker (certo,lui rimanesse a fare il play degli Spurs eviterebbe di rovinare qualche traccia,ma vabbè...),Sinik e Aketo (con Blacko sono parte degli Sniper)...Insomma un prodotto fresco,vario e che sicuramente non lascerà delusi gli amanti del rap francese,che anche con sonorità moderne sta decisamente su un livello eccellente...Compratelo come me,che il prodotto merita!

Quello che Omni Trio, A Guy Called Gerald, Goldie e 4Hero han datto alla jungle nel 1995 nei rispettivi album, è un qualcosa di irripetibile sotto il punto di vista musicale. la jungle di quell anno difficilmente ha raggiunto picchi così alti negli anni successivi; nessuno ha raggiunto più lo stile e le atmosfere magiche che quelgi album a loro turno ircreano coi loro pezzi..
Parallel Universe è uno di quelli, forse quello che mi gasa più di tutti gli altri sopracitati che non han da invidiare niente da nessuno.

c'è da dire, che 4Hero e A Guy Called Gerald sono quelli che negli album successivi han cambiato maggiormente il loro stile: i primi hanno aggiunto molta musica suonata, feat con eccelse cantanti e rapper(da segnalare a questo proposito "The Action" contenuta in Two pages del 1998 in cui c'è Butterfy dei Digable Planets che se la rappa) e un approccio molto più rilassato e se volgiamo meno jungle che nell album in questione. Il secondo è ritornato alla sua originaria techno/house, non disdegnando comunque qualche rara uscita jungle.
che dire..se non conoscete il genere questo è uno degli album migliori col quale peter inziare..bellissime battute, suoni molto evocativi..una bomba!
l unica sfiga è che è fuori stampa, quindi costa un botto: ma merita comunque.
ecco quello che secondo me è il pezzo + bello dell album..l ho caricato io modestamente..;)

Torniamo indietro e sentiamoci quest'altro lavoro dei ragazzi di Marsiglia,icone del rap francese...Gran disco,senza dubbio alcuno,già sono validissime le prove di Akhenaton,Freeman,Shurik'n e soci,con basi sempre all'altezza della situazione e campioni che spesso sono azzeccattissimi (Tam Tam De La France la conoscerete un pò tutti come melodia)...Insomma,veramente piacevole,ottimo su tutti i punti di vista (non ho letto i testi ancora,ma mi fido ciecamente quando ci sono gli IAM di mezzo)...A voi!

Terzo e ultimo album per il gruppo texano e, a detta di molti, il loro migliore in assoluto. La formula del gruppo è alquanto originale: prendono un pò di urli Screamo, un pò di furia Hardcore e mischiano il tutto con un ottimo Rapcore. E' innegabile infatti il fatto che la band si ispiri moltissimo ai migliori Raige Against The Machine di Zach De La Rocha, divinità del Rapcore. Particolarissimo il cantato di Cedric, assai particolare, che si adatta benissimo ai cambi di tempo delle canzoni, passando dal Rap agli urli, per poi diventare dolce e soave. Se dovessi dire a chi somiglia la voce di Cedricdirei senza dubbio Ian Mackaye. Ottimi tutti gli strumenti, i quali sono sempre in sintonia. Il ritmo generale dell'album è esplosivo, potente e cattivo, con ritorelli che si fissano i testa e a metà tra melodia e furia; non mancano però pezzi più tranquilli e dolci come Invalid Letter Dept. (il pezzoche preferisco in assoluto), Quarantined e Non Zero Possibility. Unico featuring dell'album è con nientepopodimeno che sua maestà Iggy Pop (se non lo conoscete datevi una palata in testa). Insomma, un ottima variazione al solito ascolto. Non piacerà a tutti, ma credo che gli amanti del Rapcore sbaveranno a lungo tempo dietro ad un disco di tale spessore.
