Di questo gruppo californiano si sa poco o nulla, in quanto questo disco è stato il loro unico lavoro, uscito nel 1997 e. come per parecchi dischi dell'epoca, in maniera decisamente anonima e "oscura" al grande pubblico.
Disco che si mantiene più o meno sulla stessa lughezza d'onda della maggior parte dei prodotti usciti dalla California in quel periodo, quindi al suo interno troveremo dosi massicce di Funk, liriche gangsta (il gruppo, come si vede anche dalla cover e dal titolo, si rifà come personaggi alla mafia italo-americana) anche se non manca la trattazione di temi più profondi, ritornelli per la maggior parte cantati.
Lavoro caratterizzato anche da una musicalità impressionante, sia sul piano delle produzioni (prevalentemente G-Funk) grazie ai beats di Derrick Shaw e Ivan Johnson, il primo praticamente sconosciuto mentre il secondo ha collaborato anche con fruppi di rilievo come il Dogg Pound (ha prodotto anche qualche traccia di Dogg Chit), sia sul piano delle liriche grazie ai ritornelli cantati dagli stessi I.F.A. che se la cavano bene anche per quanto riguarda le parti rappate.
In sintesi un dsco tremendamente laid back e rilassante, check it che ne vale la pena.

Disco consigliatomi da Doro Gjat, sul quale non ho avuto un secondo di esitazione a scaricarlo dato che 6 produzioni sono di Dj Battlecat, 5 di Blaqthoven (produttore che non conoscevo ma che mi ha sucitato grande sorpresa perché è davvero ottimo!). Il disco suona molto fresh e devo dire che non skippo quasi nulla ma devo ancora sentirlo meglio per poter dare un giudizio più sincero e appropriato, beh comunque certo è che se siete amanti della Weastside non potet enon scaricarlo!

Devo dire onestamente che quest'album inizialmente non mi prese parecchio...Però ascoltandolo e riascoltandolo,l'ho decisamente rivalutato come album...Intanto perchè Talib è uno le cui doti liriche non si discutono per niente,vedi i lavori con Hi Tek o Mos Def nel passato...E poi anche perchè nel 2007 ha deciso di affidarsi ad ottimi producers,da Just Blaze a Battlecat a Kanye West arrivando a Pete Rock,tanto per fare i primi nomi...Talib fa i suoi soliti numeri e generalmente accompagnato da ottimi partner (UGK e Norah Jones personalmente su tutti),peccato che qualche base non risulti all'altezza,ma Kweli ha dimostrato tanto nel tempo,confermandosi nel 2007 come uno dei migliori,tanto da farmi rivalutare quest'album...Tracce preferite su tutte Hostile Gospel e Soon The New Day...E se ve lo dice chi non ama generalmente Madlib,credo di aver detto tutto!

Suga Free di sicuro è un personaggio (nonchè il cugino di Rappin 4-Tay), uno che prima di fare il rapper faceva il pappone e che ha portato nel rap game il suo personaggio adattandolo perfettamente al suo precedente lavoro.
Lanciato da DJ Quik, entra a far parte del (ormai ex) "Quik Camp" e nel 1997 registra Street Gospel, il suo album d'esordio, destinato a diventare un classico della costa ovest.
Il fatto che il Quiksta ci metta la faccia e produca per intero l'album di un esordiente deve già far suonare un campanello riguardo alle doti di Suga, che si dimostra subito eccellente con uno stile tutto suo molto "fresh" e divertente, il suo modo di rappare accellerando a tratti rispetto al beat è fenomenale (e decisamente più orecchiabile rispetto ad altra gente che fa la stessa cosa, tipo E-40).
DJ Quik poi ci da il colpo di grazia con delle produzioni stupende, P-Funk al massimo e tutt'oggi attualissime che rendono questo disco un capolavoro.
Qui non si skippa una traccia, in particolare stupende sono Doe Doe And A Skunk, rilassantissima West Coast Track, Tip Toe con la chitarra elettrica suonata da Robert "Fonksta" Bacon, un pilastro della musica West, If U Stay Ready, primo singolo estratto dall'album che vede la collabo di Quik e Playa Hamm, On My Way, pezzo sentimentale, e Dip Da dedicata alla madre, ma ogni pezzo meriterebbe un discorso a parte perchè sono tutti stupendi (anche I Wanna Go Home, geniale nella sua semplicità).
L'estate è alle porte e con dischi come questo (la miglior uscita West del '97 per quanto riguarda South Cali) ve la godete alla grande.

Fantastico album nato dalla collaborazione di MF DOOM e Danger Mouse, l'ormai (già a suo tempo) celeberrimo autore di quella genialata che è "The Grey Album" in cui mischiava basi dei Beatles prese dal "White Album" a pezzi di Jigga presi dal "Black Album". Stavolta il lavoro con Doom non è meno originale, già il titolo è tutto un programma. Doom che rappa di cartoni animati e Danger che con produzioni eccellenti farcisce il tutto è un evento che prorpio non potete perdervi (eh già immagino faccie come quelle di Raku o Artik che sarcasticamente ripetono "Già non posso proprio perdermelo" XD ). Beh che altro dire, vi lascio il link e voi il giudizio!!

Albumone per Jay-Z,che dopo Reasonable Doubt e il Blueprint tira fuori il terzo capolavoro della sua carriera...I produttori son di eccezione,e infatti io non skippo praticamente nessuna canzone,persino gli Interlude sono d'eccezione...Jigga dimostra di essere liricalmente tra i migliori di sempre anche a 7 anni dal primo album,e le basi lo accompagnano alla grandissima...Canzoni come Dirt Off Your Shoulder (che roba tira giù Timbo),December 4th,Justify My Thug,99 Problems,Encore,What More Can I Say mi ammazzano ora e ogni giorno di più...Poi se azzecca la base giusta anche Eminem,che in genere come producer non vale tantissimo,allora credo siamo a cavallo...Da sentire!!

Dopo tre lunghi anni passati a combattere contro un cancro ai polmoni, ieri si è spento Camu Tao, membro degli Weathermen, produttore e rapper della Definitive Jux. Mi sono sentito davvero toccato, sia perchè era uno dei miei produttori preferiti in assoluto, sia perchè ho toccato con le mie mani questa terribile malattia che è il tumore. Nonostante sapesse che la sua vita non sarebbe durata molto, ha continuato a fare musica e non si è fermato un secondo... Per questo merita il rispetto di tutti... Se ne è andato troppo giovane... Ma vivrà per sempre!

Un grande! RIP!

Molto probabilmente slitterà anche l'uscita di Depart From Me, dato che Cage e Camu erano grandissimi amici, ma se questo slittamento ci fosse davvero, è totalmente giustificato.

Non metterò nessun suo disco in Download, dato che, a un giorno dalla sua morte, non mi sembra la cosa più giusta da fare per la sua memoria... Ma posterò lo stesso qualche sua canzone.

Questo a mio parere è il pezzo più bello che Camu abbia mai prodotto, il beat mi fa scendere le lacrime...

Molecules, Cee-Low e Chucky Smash: 3 ragazzi del quartiere cardine dell Hip-Hop sfornano il suddetto album autoproducendolo per il 90% (il restante 10% è affidato alle sapienti mani dei Blacksheep, nel cui album del 94 i Legionari fanno la loro apparizione in "We Boys", Showbiz e C.M.E.).

il risultato è un prodotto non adatto a quella cosa chiamata "mainstream",ed è per questo che forse i Legionari sono rimasti nell ombra. ma non importa, l album è un tripudio di hardcore, alternato comunque a pezzi più leggeri. personalmente è il mio album preferito, spero possiate apprezzarlo anche voi.

Grandissimo disco dell'ormai celeberrimo MF DOOM, stavolta sotto le vesti di King Geedorah. L'album suona diversamente dagli altri prorpio perche Faccia Metallica lo vuole. Gli artisti partecipaanti sono tutti buona caratura, alcuni di ottima, come d'altrone lo sono le tracks. Su tutte mi verrebbe da mettere "Next Levels" o "Anti-Matter" con Mr. Fantastik che personalmente adoro. Lo consiglio a tutti perche è comunque un buon album.

Discone di Nas dopo Illmatic...Certo,il livello non è quello del predecessore,ma c'è la conferma di un grandissimo al microfono,sempre accompagnato da ottime produzioni,magari meno eccelse di Illmatic certo,ma non sempre si può avere la perfezione...Tracce che io personalmente preferisco sono If I Ruled The World,con Lauryn Hill a giostrare un ritornello magico,I Gave You Power con Preemo alle macchine,The Message con una lirica davvero paurosa,Street Dreams,Black Girl Lost e Shootouts...Pensate che anche l'intro,della quale non sono praticamente mai amante,mi prende un casino!...Insomma un disco da avere (quante volte l'ho detta sta frase non lo so manco io,ma vabbhè...)...

Per gli amanti dei dischi con influenze jazz e soul e della Golden Age dell'Hip Hop,sto disco dovrebbe fare decisamente al caso loro...Io son 4-5 giorni che lo tengo in loop continuo,mi piace davvero molto e raramente è ripetitivo come disco...Dal poco che so su di loro,posso dirvi che sono un trio britannico e che hanno avuto a che fare con gente come Mc Solaar (presente nel disco) e Guru dei Gangstarr...Tracce preferite personalmente Spiritual Love,The Ropes,Hide And Seek e Brother (io che ascolto con piacere una traccia di 7 minuti è tutto dire eheh)...A voi,buon ascolto!

Disco ascoltato alla cazzo un pò di tempo fa,sinceramente attirato dal feat di R.A. più che altro...Il disco in sè è buono,peccato che a volte Matlock magari cada nella ripetitività,ma generalmente riesce a sciolinare buone rime ed è accompagnato da belle strumentali...Insomma non un capolavoro,ma tracce come Pignose,Don't Sleep e Moonshine vi trascineranno sicuramente...

Sinceramente su questo artista non sò niente se non che è della costa ovest e che ha fatto questo EP. L'ho trovato per caso, l'ho ascoltato e l'ho trovato ottimo. 6 tracce con belle basi potenti e un bel flow di Erk. La prima traccia è "Good Morning", originale a mio parere perchè inizia con il suono della sveglia, uno sbadiglio e poi...BOOM parte la base bomba che ti fa saltare la camera...ascoltatelo!

Siamo nel 2001 quando Virtuoso, allora membro degli Army Of The Pharaohs, esce con il suo primo disco da solista. Non voglio fare troppi giri di parole, Virtuoso è forse il miglior Mc da battaglia in assoluto, e questo è uno dei masterpiece del Battle Rap. Virtuoso dimostra di avere testa in quello che fà, e non ci annoia con 16 pezzi tutti dalla stessa tonalità, ma ogni tanto scende dal carroarmato per raccontarci spezzoni della sua vita e i suoi sentimenti; così facendo troviamo pezzi di grande emotività affiancati a delle vere e proprie bombe atmiche. Il suo flow si adatta perfettamente ad ogni situazione. Liricamente bastano pezzi come Slicin' Your Wirsts e Remember per farci capire che il ragazzo, quando vuole, può sfoderare vere perle liriche, anche se non fanno parte della sua natura da Mc grezzo e hardcore. I featuring comprendono membri degli Army Of The Pharaohs come Jedi Mind Tricks e Esoteric, ma anche Mc's esterni al complesso come Mr. Lif, Del, Casual e altri. Comunque Virtuoso non si fà mettere i piedi in testa da nessun ospite (forse da Esoteric e Del) e regge benissimo il confronto con tutti. Le produzioni sono a cura sia di nomi abbastanza noti come Stoupe The Enemy Of Mankind, Panik, Fakts One, Beyonder e Insight, sia di gente meno nota come Ninja, Que, Ray Fernandes e Soul Searchers. Le perle dell'album sono a mio parere: Beatdown, All We Know, One, Slicin Your Wirsts, Orion's Belt e Remember.
Un disco che non può mancare a tutti gli amanti del rap più grezzo e da battaglia, ma che si farà apprezzare anche da chi ama tutt'altro tipo di rap.

Continuo ancora con la biografia di Busta,questa volta siamo al 1998...Gran disco questo,sicuramente sopra gli altri postati...Gran grinta di Busta,sparsa qua e là nell'album,con dimostrazioni della sua bravura (Iz They Wildin' Wit' Us Or Gettin' Rowdy Wit' Us è stupenda) e ci sono feat interessanti al di fuori del rap,tipo con Ozzy Osbourne ke da un toco rockeggiante alla canzone...L'ho ascoltato ancora poco,ma merita sicuramente...Gran disco,che non lascerà delusi i fan...
