Uno dei migliori liricisti di tutti i tempi che ha fatto solo un "vero" album nella sua carriera e pochissimi featuring (Blahzay Blazhay, Ice T, Nine, il suo socio Trigger, Smith Bros appunto e poco altro), che con questo disco entra direttamente nell'olimpo degli intoccabili.
Metriche che sfiorano l'eccellenza, flow avvolgente e tecnica sopraffina con un'attitudine e uno stile unico che, accompagnato dalle fantastiche basi minimali di DR Period, rendono questo disco sporco che sembra uscito direttamente dai tombini fumanti della Grande Mela (Io questo disco lo assoccio tantissimo all'immagine di De Niro che cammina tra le vie di New York, appunto tra questi tombini dove viene fuori il fumo, in quel capolavoro senza tempo di C'era Una Volta In America, anche il titolo aiuta...).

Lo giudico miglior disco del 1996 e vi confido un piccolo anedotto: conosco questa bomba grazie a Kaos, che ad un live a fine del 2000 mi disse che per lui il miglior rapper della storia è proprio Smoothe Da Hustler insieme a Kool G Rap e a Scarface; da li mi misi alla ricerca e provai ancora più ammirazione verso il sig. Fiorito per avermi fatto scoprire questo capolavoro...

P.s.: il bello che Smoothe non è neanche di New York, ma di Washington, ma con il Dottore bluarancio non può non suonare NY shit a tutti gli effetti...

Sono un duo formato da Framework (mc) e DJ E-Train

Non lasciatevi ingannare dalla cover (non so se sia così perchè sfuocata o perchè sia propriamente così),il disco è una manata vera e propria...Vi lascio una piccola recensione di un utente di un altro forum,che ha incuriosito anche me e me l'ha fatto scaricare...E se è piaciuto a me che ascolto anche la peggio merda al giorno d'oggi,fatevi un favore e date una possibilità a sto lavoro :D

Ho questo disco da un paio di giorni e ho dato solo dei rapidi ascolti, quello che posso dire è che in questo disco si respira hip hop dalla prima all'ultima traccia, tutti beats validi, l'unico calo a mio parere si ha con Machine Gun Alley (sempre parlando del beat) per il resto siamo sempre ad un alto livello.
Il singolo non rispecchia le capacità liriche di Framework che in alcune tracce è veramente incredibile, in sunday school ad esempio tiene la stessa rima dall'inizio alla fine, grande prova anche in Denora Hill, giusto per citarne un paio. Loyal Theory è accompagnata da un beat favoloso, così come Endurance, due generi diversi ma entrambi ben costruiti...

Mad sta per pazzo, Villain per Villano: già il titolo è tutto un programma. Questo disco nasce dall’unione di due menti geniali: quella di Madlib uno dei produttori più grandi che l’Hip Hop abbia conosciuto e quella di Daniel Dumile in arte MF Doom (ma non solo, però se dovessi star ad elencare tutti gli alias di quest’artista finirei domani). Il disco esce nel 2004 sotto Stones Throw, etichetta Californiana di spicco nell’ambiente underground (giusto per citare alcuni nomi oltre a Madlib ed MF Doom, sotto questa casa discografica troviamo Percee P, J Rocc, Guilty Simpson, Penaut Butter Wolf ecc.). Personalmente considero l’album uno dei più belli usciti nell’ultimo decennio, ma mi azzarderei a metterlo al livello di alcuni degli “inarrivabili” anni ‘90 e penso che col passare del tempo questo disco verrà considerato Classico senza tempo. Mettiamo da parte l’Mc e concentriamoci su questo produttore, musicista o chiamatelo come vi pare che non sbaglia un colpo, ogni suo album, ogni sua produzione è sempre di livello altissimo (questo è opinabile, lo ammetto) e c’è da dire che è molto prolifico basti pensare che quest’anno ha già fatto uscire due album sotto suo nome e altri due di soli remix (uno di Perseverance ed uno appunto di Madvillainy). Un produttore stimato da gente che ha fatto l’hip hop dagli anni 90, vedi Pete Rock, basti a fare capire il livello del’intero album al livelli di beats. Beh tornando a Doom, possiamo parlar bene di lui come di Madlib, tanto geniale (o folle fate voi per me non fa differenza, è e rimane uno di migliori) quanto prolifico, c’è da pensare che solo tra il 2003 ed il 2005 ha sfornato la bellezza di 6 album tutti di altissimo livello con collaborazioni azzeccate (vedi “DangerDoom”, collaborazione con Danger Mouse, produttore degli Gnarls Barkley), poi i testi e le metafore che quest’uomo adopera sono deliziose, quanto la genialità di traccie come Bistrò nella quale elenca uno ad uno i vari alias suoi e di Madlib che hanno “partecipato” al lavoro. Quindi non dov’essere difficile immaginare il risultato del disco, se poi all’impasto vengono aggiunti ingredienti del calibro di Wildchild, Med o lo stesso Lord Quas (pseudonimo di Madlib) che in America’s Most Blunted e Shadow of Tomorrow manda a casa tutti, allora il tutto ben amalgamato, dà forma ad un disco che non ha eguali e che non credo ne avrà per molto tempo. Aspettando e sperando in un capitolo successivo, mi godo l’unico ed inimitabile: Madvillainy.

Come è stato richiesto in tag, ecco quà il primo ed unico album dello storico gruppo newyorkese Company Flow (rilasceranno un altro album con il nome di Company Flow, ma sarà in realtà un album strumentale di El-P e Mr. Len). Vi chiederete forse come fà questo gruppo ad essere idolatrato pur avendo rilasciato insieme un solo album; la risposta è semplicissima: innanzitutto possiamo tranquillamente dire che per il Rap underground Funcrisher Plus ha rappresentato una svolta epocale, evolvendo il genere come pochi hanno fatto fin ora, portando poi a quello che è l'Indie Rap dei giorni nostri e affermandosi in assoluto come uno dei primi dischi di Hip-Hop sperimentale; in più il disco in questione presenta alla scena mondiale geni del calibro di El-P e Mr. Len (purtroppo Big Juss non avrà lo stesso loro successo), tutt'oggi osannati dalla maggioranza degli amanti del genere (in particolare il primo). Musicalmente grezzo e minimale, claustrofobico e psichedelico con la sua miriade di accenni all'elettronica e al Funk più marcio e sgangherato, tutto senza seguire nessun filo melodico particolare e con batterie potenti e semplici. Le produzioni sono tutte affidate ad un El-P distante anni luce (in senso prettamente stilistico) da quello dei giorni nostri, ma pur sempre geniale, e dal grandissimo Mr. Len (tranne Lune TNS che è prodotta da Juss). A livello di flow e tecnica a bbiamo davanti il miglior El-P di sempre e un fantastico Big Juss. Liricamente psichedelico, ma comunque inferiore rispetto alle ultime opere del Producto. Un disco che risulta attuale e difficile a livello di suoni anche 10 anni dopo la sua realizzazione, classico intramontabile... Un must!
