James Yancey.E' una donna anziana che da Febbraio 2006,dopo la scomparsa di Jay,vive da sola.E' anche l'Executive Producer di Jay Stay Paid,il nuovo album postumo che esce per la Nature Sounds curato interamente da Pete Rock di Dilla.Quindi,non sò se è una decisione giusta o sbagliata ma questa volta non metterò il link (non credo di fare un grande torto in quanto credo che sappiate già dove trovare vari links).Anche io lo ho scaricato ma la settimana prossimo lo ordino su Amazon.Quindi non stò dicendo di non ascoltarlo,ma almeno di dare una mano a Ma Dukes,comprando il cd.Scusate se non posto il link,ma questa volta mi sento di fare così.

"When it comes to beats and rhymes, Canadian producer Marco
Polo and Brooklyn MC Torae don’t play, just check the
rsum. On his 2007 critically acclaimed album Port
Authority, Polo recruited a who’s who of MC’s like Kool G

Continuing to add to its growing roster of artists, Duck Down Records welcomes Torae & Marco Polo to the Duck Down Family. The MC/Producer team is prepping a new album entitled “Double Barrel,” which will be entirely produced by Marco Polo and is set to be released this Spring.Marco Polo has proven to be a dynamic producer in Hip Hop working with Kardinal Offishall, Rakim, Kool G Rap, Masta Ace, Boot Camp Clik, Heltah Skeltah, Buckshot, Sadat X, and Large Professor. In the Spring of 2007, Marco Polo released his critically acclaimed album, “Port Authority”. Now, less than two years later, he has teamed up with Torae to present “Double Barrel.”Marco Polo states he “was getting tired of Rappers not rapping anymore. Double Barrel sounds like some exciting shit you turn up LOUD and get amped to. Good fighting music, training music, driving music, killing music.”Torae, a Coney Island native, is one of the hardest working MCs in the game today. His last mixtape, “Daily Conversation” (released in 2008) featured production from DJ Premier, 9th Wonder, Black Milk, Khrysis and of course Marco Polo, and received high accolades from the Hip Hop Community.In speaking on his “Double Barrel album, Torae says that “Marco and I wanted to collaborate on a project, so we decided to record everything together in the studio and give each other feedback and constructive criticism to make the best possible LP. We felt there was definitely a lane open and a void for certain fans; fans like us that missed authentic boom bap, gritty, NYC rap. So that’s what we set out to make.”Torae goes on to describe the album as “definitely not like anything that’s come out of NY in the last few years. It’s more inspired by the music that we liked to listen to coming up. Black Moon, Gangstarr, ONYX, Smif N Wessun, M.O.P., and artists like that. The beats hit hard and are really gritty. My delivery is more aggressive and in your face. It’s a colder more abrasive album than what’s out there right now. It’s just what the heads are complaining isn’t available.”On the decision to sign with Duck Down, Torae continues, “it’s the perfect move because of the history of the label. They’ve put out a lot of the artists that inspired us to create music in the first place. They know how to reach our core fanbase and cater to the people that love the music and the culture we represent. "David Lynch, Iggy Pop, Gruff Rhys, members of the Strokes, the Shins, the Flaming Lips and Pixies will contribute to the next album by Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse. Mark Linkous, the American singer-songwriter who mutters and murmurs as Sparklehorse, was last heard in 2006, on an album produced by Danger Mouse. And though neither Linkous nor Danger Mouse have announced it on their websites, their MySpace pages, in press releases or tweets, they seem to have made something new. And it sounds … well it sounds mysterious. Earlier this week, several journalists and bloggers received a poster in the mail: “Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse present … DARK NIGHT OF THE SOUL”. And then there’s the word “Featuring” and a whole lot of names. Take a deep breath: Black Francis aka Pixies’ Frank Black, the Strokes’ Julian Casablancas, Vic Chesnutt, the Flaming Lips, Grandaddy’s Jason Lytle, the Shins’ James Mercer, the Cardigans’ Nina Persson, Iggy Pop, Super Furry Animals’ Gruff Rhys, and Suzanne Vega. Oh yes, and “Visuals by David Lynch”. The poster promises an album in summer 2009 and that’s all we know; a mystery wrapped in an enigma wrapped in an international advertising campaign. Certainly both Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse are well connected. On 2006’s Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain, there were contributions from both Tom Waits and the Flaming Lips’ Steven Drozd. And since breaking through with The Grey Album, Danger Mouse has worked with everyone from Beck to Gnarls Barkley and Gorillaz. Of course, it’s one thing to have Julian Casablancas drawl a few lyrics, and another to have one of the world’s eeriest film auteurs collaborate with visuals. David Lynch has rarely worked with any musicians besides composer Angelo Badalamenti, and although it’s still unclear what he’s done for Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse, from designing album artwork to shooting a film, he’s not exactly known for gallivanting with indie mumblers. Then again, perhaps Dark Night of the Soul isn’t just an album. Perhaps it’s a hotel on a mysterious road that only appears on Friday the 13th, with a casino room where your subconscious mind plays roulette against Iggy Pop and members of the Shins and .. well all right, it’s probably just an album."

"Curtailing any notion of jumping on some sort of Dilla bangwagon, Jay Stay Paid was executive produced by Dilla’s mother Maureen Yancey (aka Ma Dukes) along with the musical supervision of Dilla’s only real musical idol, Pete Rock. “It wasn’t rushed and it wasn’t haphazard,” explains Ms Yancey. “This album combines what he did in the beginning of his career, what he did in some of our early hospital stays, which was very deep, and some stuff pulled from old floppy disks & DATs. Its mind blowing…this is like the missing links to Dilla’s legacy.” The format of the album plays like a radio show with Pete Rock as the program director. With regards to Pete’s involvement, Ms. Yancey gets very excited, “Dilla wanted to pattern himself behind Pete. His dream was to become as close as possible to what Pete stood for. Pete meant everything to him. Dilla would have just been flabbergasted! ” Pete’s sentiments were the same toward Dilla, “Dude was amazing. He just kinda came outta nowhere and the more you heard his beats the better they got. He may not be here with us, but it’s all good we’re going to keep his music alive and well.”

Out of print since 2006, this certified classic album has been remastered and will be available worldwide! Already ahead of its time when originally released in 1997, Funcrusher Plus is widely recognized as one of the most influential hip hop albums ever, shattering conventions with its musical complexity and uncompromising lyricism. Comprised of producer/MC El-P, MC Bigg Jus, and DJ Mr. Len, Company Flow's music rejected the conventional hooks and jazz/funk samples favored at the time, opting instead for jagged, lo-fi and punishing sonics crowned with confrontational and highly literate word-play an drhyme patterns. The group's musical approach and legendary D-I-Y ethic went on to influence an entire genre for the past decade. Originally appearing as a self-released vinyl-only EP in 1995, their music caught the attention of underground hip hop and alternative music scenes worldwide, eventually landing them a deal with then unknown NYC hip hop label Rawkus Reocrds.
