Beh non è facile trovare parole per descrivere un album del genere. Si può definire uno di quegli album che ami dal primo ascolto! Basta ascoltarsi le prime 4 barre di "Beware" per accorgersi della bravura del povero Big Pun deceduto ormai 8 anni fa. Pezzi come "Stiil Not a Player", "Punish Me" o "Twinz (Deep Cover 98)" sono dei classici senza tempo, beh in effetti tutto capital Punishment è un classico 10/10. Come al solito il mio consiglio è: ascoltatelo (per quelli che non hanno ancora avuto il piacere) e vi accorgerete da soli di quello che avete davanti ai vostri occhi (ops...orecchie).

Il 25 Aprile 1999 muore, ucciso a colpi di pistola dal fratello Larry, Roger Troutman, una delle figure più importanti del Funk e della musica mondiale, storico componente della Zapp Band. Tre anni dopo nel 2002 J-Ro degli Alkaholiks decide di rendere omaggio a uno dei più grandi Fonksta della storia e riunisce alcuni tra i migliori esponenti del panorama West per assemblare quello che è uno dei migliori dischi-tributo di sempre, produttori del calibro di Battlecat, J Wells, Blaqthoven, Chico DeBarge, Tony G contribuiscono dando all'album quel suono P-Funk che Roger stesso ha "regalato" alla West Coast ormai tanti anni fa, mentre al mic nomi come Snoop Dogg, Kurupt, Rappin' 4-Tay, Kam, Xzibit, Ras Kass, Kurupt, Ice T, Daz cacciano liriche di tributo bellissime. Rifiniscono il tutto le voci stupende e suadenti di Mirror, Tasha Scott, James e Chico DeBarge, Andre Wilson per un album che spazia dal rap, al soul, all R'n'B. Still More Bounce è stupenda, P-Funk al massimo, Bad Days contiene lo stesso sample che riprenderà Daz, tre anni dopo, per Do U Think About?, Get On Down e Throw It Up sono due fantastiche reunions di leggende, in Just 4 U c'è una talkbox esagerata e Slow-N-Easy è la canzone d'amore perfetta. Disco fantastico, il giusto omaggio a un grande della musica a cui la West Coast deve moltissimo. Unica pecca? Forse la mancanza di DJ Quik, da molti considerato il vero erede di Roger Troutman.

Rest in peace Roger, your music was respected..

E' appena uscito sotto Definitive Jux il secondo album dei Sonic Sum (dei quali fanno parte anche Rob Sonic e Fredones): Films. Il disco, a detta dei portavoci della casa Newyorkese, è qualcosa di assolutamente nuovo, a metà tra Hip-Hop, Indie Rock e Elettronica. Il disco originalmente fu rilasciato solo in Giappone, ma la Def Jux lo ha finalmente reso accessibile al resto del mondo!

Oggi vi segnalo l'ultimo cd di Consequence,rapper del Queens cugino di Q-Tip,che nel 2007 esce con questo Don't Quit Your Job sotto la label di Kanye West G.O.O.D. Records.Album davvero molto godibile,tutte sonorità ben dosate,ritornelli da gustarsi fino in fondo,e liriche molto belle.Davvero un album godibile al 100%.Il giorno di San Valentino è uscito il quarto video estratto da quest album,Feel This Way.Sotto trovate tracklist,link per il download,e i video estratti.

Se state cercando un bel disco Hip Hop potente e con ottime produzioni, il primo mini album di Akrobatik è quello che stavate cercando!!

Questo "THE EP" a mio avviso è assolutamente perfetto e brani come SayYesSayWord, Internet MC's, Don't Fear e The fat sh*t (dove fa pure il beatbox) confermano la mia tesi!! "The EP" riassunto brevemente è questo: 30 minuti di puro stile!!

Io l'ho comprato a 10 € e sono stati soldi spesi benissimo e quindi consiglio pure a voi di prenderlo (anche a scatola chiusa)!! Non ve ne pentirete!

Dato che siamo in tema BIG L penso sia il caso di parlare anche della crew di cui faceva parte ovvero la leggendaria D.I.T.C che oltre a lui comprendeva anche Fat Joe, Show & AG, O.C., Lord Finesse, Buckwild e DiamonD!! Insomma un insieme di grandi MC's e produttori!!

Worldwide in realtà non è un album, ma bensì una raccolta di tutti i singoli pubblicati dalla crew nel corso degli anni 90!!

In certi pezzi figurano pure importantissimi ospiti come ad esempio DJ Premier, KRS One e Big Pun (R.I.P).
Purtroppo anche quest'album è fuori stampa e quindi si trova solo a prezzi assurdi!!
