Secondo disco per Drapht,uscito sotto Obese Records nel 2005.Di solito si dice che il secondo album è l'album che dovrebbe confermare la bravura di un artista.Ed infatti cosi' è.
Drapht è assolutamente fantastico in tutto l'album.I testi sono bellissimi e farciti di quotables e SOPRATTUTTO,mai scontati.
Alle produzie c'è Dezastah dei Downsyde,come in Pale Rider e si sente...
Album consigliatissimo.

Genius - Words From The Genius (1991) (1994 Re-Release)

Correva un tempo,precisamente nel 1991,in cui GZA era nella Cold Chillin' Records,storica etichetta in cui militavano Marely Mark,Biz Markie,Kool G Rap,Big Daddy Kane e compagnia bella.
Sono uscite tre versioni diverse di questo CD,che però si differenziano per ben poco.
Lontano dalle sonorità Wu che lo hanno reso celebre,GZA muove il suo primo passo con quest'album.
Se avete presente i primi dischi dei suddetti artisti potete farvi un idea di come possa suonare questo disco.
Le produzioni sono quasi tutte affidate a Easy Mo Be:su 15 traccie ne produce 10,4 sono affidate a Patrick Harvey,mentre una,insieme allo stesso Genius è prodotta da Prince Rakeem,forse meglio conosciuto come RZA.
Le basi sono influenzate dalle sonorità dell'epoca e della stessa Cold Chillin'ovvero riff funk,brevi loop di fiati,cuts e scratches.
Per quanto riguarda GZA:la rappata è ovviamente diversa rispetto a quella a cui che siamo abituati,si capisce che i 90 sono all'inizio,ma a me personalmente prende benissimo.
Per alcuni magari certe suonorità risultano più difficili da digerire,bisogna ricordare che gli ottanta si erano chiusi da poco e sono passati 17 anni,io comunque mi ci trovo a mio agio.
I testi variano molto.
Si va dal suo incontro con una ragazza,direi,ninfomane "She said, "Let me show you what we do uptown
I huff and I puff till I blow your balls down" alla vita da spacciatore "While I'm still cooking up kilos in pots The kilos becomes bricks and the bricks becomes rocks".
Si mantiene sempre su ottimi livelli,dimostrando già di avere un buon vocabolario.
In conclusione:non ha lo stesso impatto di un Liquid Swords,ma è un ottimo CD,considerato che fosse il 1991 un 8 se lo merita tutto.

Roxbury 02119, un pò come Beverly Hills 90210..solo che qui si fà sul serio: siamo di fronte a uno dei + bravi produttori underground che l east abbia mai avuto e questo è il suo secondo album solista, accompagnato dai fantomatici Bulldogs.
se non conoscete Edo, datevi na riascoltata a quale capolavoro di album che avevo postato 2 mesi fà e che si chaiam "Criminal" di Scientifik, in particolare la prima epica traccia Lawtown e capirete la sua grandezza.
in quest album, a esser sinceri, si alternano pezzi ben fatti e congegnati,soprattuto musicalmente, ad altri che personalmente trovo un pò anonimi: ma diciamo che è una carratteristica questa del 90% degli album di ogni genere musicale.
ecco quella che secondo me è la migliore traccia del disco, con un giro di trombetta campionato che fà venire la pelle d'oca(l ho caricata io modestamente)

un album da avere, originale.
